BadGal RiRi is Dior’s New Muse.

Rihanna is the ultimate icon in the fashion | modeling | music world. Riri is the latest muse for Dior’s ‘Secret Garden Campaign’. What makes this ad particularly epic? Ri is the first woman of color to be the face of Dior in the 69 years since the House of Dior launched.

The “American Oxygen” singer was photographed at the Palace Of Versailles in France by Steven Klein & styled by Mel Ottenberg. She joins brand ambassadors which include Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman, Marion Cotillard & Jennifer Lawrence.

Dior’s chief executive officer, Sidney Toledano, told WWD, “Jennifer is also edgy, I think. They understand. They’re smart. In this short movie, [Rihanna] knew how to work with Versailles. She has this kind of elegance — we saw it from the very first moment — and then she can surprise. She can be unexpected and we like it. It’s part of this personality.”

Adding, what we already knew… “[She is] a goddess but accessible. The way she moves is part of the young generation.”

OMGODDESS is right. This is the 4th installment of the “Secret Garden” campaign series, it launched in 2012 and was previously shot by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin.

All we can say is Bitch Better Have My Money … or in this case, Dior better have Rihanna’s $$$.

Freida Pinto is ALL WOMAN for The EDIT.

Indian actress/model Freida Pinto stars in The EDiT’s ALL WOMAN issue. We love the goddess/warrior themed styling for the editorial by Tracy Taylor. She wears pieces by Sonia Rykiel, Vionnet, Vera Wang, Altuzarra, Balmain, and … that Jason Wu gown for the cover shot… omgoddess. . Photographed by Chad Pitman.

Beyond starring in L’Oreal campaigns & featured films, Pinto recently became an ambassador for the Because I Am A Girl campaign, which supports young girls’ rights to a quality education.

Since Pinto’s breakout role in Slumdog Millionaire she continues to take Hollywood by storm. For Net-A-Porter’s online mag, the Mumbai-born beauty talks modeling, different perspectives on looks, & more.

Screen Shot 2015-04-16 at 2.24.35 PM

She began modeling at 19years old followed by becoming a leading actress, now she uses her fame to bring awareness to important issues,  “If it gives me a bigger ticket and I can use whatever fame I get to help women and girls who have been sexually abused, then it’s worth it.” In 2012, she joined the Plan International’s campaign which aims to protect girls and women from violence and sex trafficking.

Freida said, “You hear that phrase so much. ‘I got raped… because I’m a girl’, ‘I can’t go out at night…because I’m a girl’, when really it should be, ‘Because I’m a girl, I can give birth to the next generation of enlightened males.’”

On the perceptions about both her ethnicity & her looks. “It’s hard because the first thing people see when I go into an audition is that I am 100% Indian, but I don’t remember a time in my life when I did not see myself as a world citizen. When I watch films, I can always imagine myself as the female lead – even if it’s Minnie Mouse.”

Screen Shot 2015-04-16 at 2.24.57 PM

“It’s not necessarily the way I see myself. In fact, I don’t even like to look at myself in the mirror. But I’m aware of the perception and I always say that if it’s because of that one line in Slumdog where Latika is described as “the most beautiful girl in the world”, then I have to do everything that I can to change that perception.”

Screen Shot 2015-04-16 at 2.53.03 PM

Pinto’s not slowing down her career anytime soon, she says, “I’m excited about the kind of roles I might get in my thirties; I’m hoping they’re going to be very different,” she says. “I’m lucky that I haven’t been overexposed. There were a lot of films I said no to, because I wanted to concentrate on longevity.”

Oh, wondering what her fav designers are? Well beyond Prabal Gurung, Jason Wu, she LOVES Ferragamo, “everything the Ferragamo family does. I’m a self-proclaimed honorary Ferragamo family member.”

Model News: Gisele Rocks off the Runway.

Well, the time has finally come. Iconic supermodel, Gisele Bundchen, hung up her angel wings a few years back … and now, she’s walking off the runway. Before you go all cray – Gisele is NOT quitting modeling, but she will be kickin’ it OFF the catwalk.

Bundchen’s final walk will be during Sao Paulo Fashion Week.

The Brazilian beauty said in the Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper that she’s quitting after her body “asked her to stop.” She said, “Automatically my body tells me if what I do is worth it, and it asked to stop. I respect my body, it’s a privilege to be able to stop.”

She emphasized that she’s not retiring her modeling career & she’ll still continue to work off the runway, from campaigns to covers. Tom Brady’s wife is also looking to spend more time at home with her family.

The face of H&M said,  “I don’t see how to continue (modeling on the catwalk) … and stopping will leave room for other projects I have for myself.”

Gisele has been the world’s highest-earning model (according to Forbes) for the last eight years, with $47 million in earnings just last year.

As of recently she’s covered multiple VOGUE issues, is the face of Sonia Rykiel, H&M, Pantene & of course the coveted CHANEL No. 5 ads.

The longevity of Gisele’s modeling career is seriously ground breaking & it doesn’t look like she’s stopping (hopefully) anytime soon … although we’ll miss her strutting those killer legs on the catwalk, we can’t wait to see her upcoming cover issues, ad campaigns & more.

Interestingly enough, the top model made her career on the catwalk.

In 1997 Bündchen traveled to London, she auditioned for 42 shows and ended up getting her big break when she was “chosen for her ability to walk in towering heels—on a slippery runway—for Alexander McQueen’s spring 1998 “rain” ready-to-wear show” (Wikipedia).

The former Victoria’s Secret angel said in the VOGUE UK March ’15 issue,  “I’m a model as a job, I’m Gisele, the daughter of Valdir and Vania, I’m a woman, I am a model. When I go home and shut the door, that’s it. If I want to expose something, it should be my choice.”

Leader of Balmain’s Army: Olivier Rousteing (and Rihanna).

Rihanna, Kim Kardashian West, Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevingne Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Naomi Campbell, Iman, Alessandra Ambrosio, Karlie Kloss, Nicki Minaj, Gigi Hadid, Joan Smalls, Miley Cyrus, Gisele Bundchen, Chanel Iman, Selena Gomez, Kanye West,…. the list goes ON & ON … BALMAIN’s Army is taking over the fashion world one catwalk & selfie at a time, courtesy of, Olivier Rousteing. The 28 year old creative director has turned the Paris Fashion house into a POWER house.

Rousteing’s unconventional ways are reigning the industry, especially due to the impact of celebs/supermodels/musicians. “When you look at the fashion brands, how many followers do they have? Balmain has 1.1 million. It’s like 10 per cent of what those girls have. It shows you the power of the personality more than the power of the entire brand.”

The Bourdeaux-born babe (for real those cheek bones…) talks to Telegraph.co.uk about design, his muses & more, he says, “Celebrity is more important today than it used to be. It gives access to so many different people. For me it’s the new high-street window. You can actually be part of the dream. It’s not only available to 10 people on the front row – it’s a way of communication that’s inclusive, and there’s something generous about that.”

Screen Shot 2015-02-02 at 8.08.28 PM

On his main muse BadGalRiRi: “There’s no doubt about it. She has this aura, this charisma. It’s not only sexual. It’s something else. She is like a new Grace Kelly, or a Madonna… This woman of the world who represents a new world.” Adding,”No, if you mean, ‘Do I have someone in my life?’ No, I don’t. Just work and Rihanna. But that’s enough. That’s a lot!”

On women & fashion: “Fashion had started to forget women in a way, and concentrate too much on the clothes. For me it made no sense. In fashion the biggest moment was when the models were celebrities – we all remember Naomi, Claudia, Carla, Linda. The woman had to come back; the curved woman, and different kinds of body shapes. I don’t like skinny girls. I want to represent a real woman, not just a shadow or a ghost.”

Screen Shot 2015-02-02 at 8.02.37 PM

On diversity on the runway“The mixety [sic] of my castings is one of the most important things about the show,” Rousteing says. “Sometimes I feel like some designers just focus on the clothes. Obviously it’s a business, but when you do a show you want to be modern – it’s not only about trying to find the fabric that no one else uses. Being modern means having a view or a vision of what the world is today. I want to show a vision of my world, what I see and what I want to see in the future.”

On the founder of the French fashion house, Pierre Balmain: “I keep Pierre Balmain in my mind because he loved strong women, women who have something to say. All the French designers – Balmain, Poiret, Dior, Balenciaga – they believed in strong women. Their mothers were really important. In France fashion has always been connected to the role of the woman. I keep in my mind the rules of French fashion.”

We have to say – we’re inlove with Balmain & Olivier’s vision. Thoughts?

Diane Kruger is ‘The Cool Blonde’.

German actress/model/bona fide fashionista: Diane Kruger – looks stunning, boho-chic, & like one cool chick for her latest editorial with Harper’s Bazaar Australia. For the cover she looks fab in a CHANEL cruise ’15 collection piece – love the vibrant colors & prints – especially for a nice hippie touch this fall/winter.

1

For the November issue Kruger talks aging, the red carpet & fashion, of course.

Fashion: “Clothes to me are an external expression of a state of mind, or a reaction I want to get from people. Fashion is just a fun way for women to show our colors. Guys buy a car.”

Diane adds that she’s not afraid of aging, and ready to embrace it, “I want to age gracefully and I don’t judge those who get injections. But we can’t age backwards, so you have to embrace it sometime.”

Fame vs Red Carpet: “Red carpets are a stressful, bizarre situation. Imagine having all those people yell at you and take photos. Not the most comfortable moment. It’s ridiculous. Honestly, I just don’t care what people say. It’s not worth worrying about. I care about the film I’ve just made and what my boyfriend says when I walk out of the door.”

Recently, her longtime beau, actor Joshua Jackson, opened up about the question everyone is asking, Why aren’t they married yet?? His answer is sweet & honest:

“I can tell you why we’re not married: We’re not religious,” The Affair‘s Jackson told the November ’14 issue of Glamour. “I don’t feel any more or less committed to Diane for not having stood in front of a priest and had a giant party. We’re both children of divorce, so it’s hard for me to take marriage at face value as the thing that shows you’ve grown up and are committed to another person.”

Adding, “It may change at some point. We may get married.”
