Model News: Gisele Rocks off the Runway.

Well, the time has finally come. Iconic supermodel, Gisele Bundchen, hung up her angel wings a few years back … and now, she’s walking off the runway. Before you go all cray – Gisele is NOT quitting modeling, but she will be kickin’ it OFF the catwalk.

Bundchen’s final walk will be during Sao Paulo Fashion Week.

The Brazilian beauty said in the Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper that she’s quitting after her body “asked her to stop.” She said, “Automatically my body tells me if what I do is worth it, and it asked to stop. I respect my body, it’s a privilege to be able to stop.”

She emphasized that she’s not retiring her modeling career & she’ll still continue to work off the runway, from campaigns to covers. Tom Brady’s wife is also looking to spend more time at home with her family.

The face of H&M said,  “I don’t see how to continue (modeling on the catwalk) … and stopping will leave room for other projects I have for myself.”

Gisele has been the world’s highest-earning model (according to Forbes) for the last eight years, with $47 million in earnings just last year.

As of recently she’s covered multiple VOGUE issues, is the face of Sonia Rykiel, H&M, Pantene & of course the coveted CHANEL No. 5 ads.

The longevity of Gisele’s modeling career is seriously ground breaking & it doesn’t look like she’s stopping (hopefully) anytime soon … although we’ll miss her strutting those killer legs on the catwalk, we can’t wait to see her upcoming cover issues, ad campaigns & more.

Interestingly enough, the top model made her career on the catwalk.

In 1997 Bündchen traveled to London, she auditioned for 42 shows and ended up getting her big break when she was “chosen for her ability to walk in towering heels—on a slippery runway—for Alexander McQueen’s spring 1998 “rain” ready-to-wear show” (Wikipedia).

The former Victoria’s Secret angel said in the VOGUE UK March ’15 issue,  “I’m a model as a job, I’m Gisele, the daughter of Valdir and Vania, I’m a woman, I am a model. When I go home and shut the door, that’s it. If I want to expose something, it should be my choice.”

Gisele Bundchen stars in new Chanel N°5 ad campaign.

Gisele Bündchen is not only the highest paid FORBES model but now is the face of the iconic Chanel N°5 fragrance.

The new Chanel N°5 ad campaign stars one of the top models in the world, Brazilian beauty, Gisele. The stellar commercial was written and directed by Baz Luhrmann with production design by Catherine Martin, (who worked with Baz on Moulin Rouge! and The Great Gatsby).

Although, Bundchen (wife of football player Tom Brady) is the star of the latest ad, the true essence of the brand & commercial is dedicated to one woman: Coco Chanel herself, particularly since the perfume was launched nearly a century ago.

Luhrmann said, “It’s the spirit of Coco Chanel that has continued to influence the house. She’s about paradoxes in character – one minute she’s be in trousers on the beach, the next she’d be in a beautiful frock. That’s what I love most about Chanel – it comes from an actual person and the things that she felt and that were real to her. She really changed fashion.”

VOGUE magazine said, “Ten years ago, N°5 was the fragrance of a woman who decided to break free from it all and then return to reality, renouncing her desire. Today, through Luhrmann’s eyes, we see the N°5 woman deciding to listen to her heart. She is a modern woman who knows exactly who she is and is free to make her own choices. The film tells the story of a woman who struggles to find space for everything – herself, family, career, and love.”

In a release, CHANEL said of the film,  said of the new campaign, “I worked on the No.5 ad with Nicole Kidman 11 years ago, so when Chanel approached me about doing it again I thought: ‘What is the difference between the Chanel woman then and now? In a way Gisele became the script. I knew her when she was quite young and starting out, and she’s evolved so much in both her life and work. The film reflects that – this woman has a child, a real job and then she has this relationship. Gisele is the Chanel woman now.”

Baz added, “The CHANEL woman can be with herself on a beach, can be with her child, can have an aspirational and fulfilling work life, and at the same time she can have a true relationship; she can have romance. And in the end, the CHANEL woman chooses love.

With the Grease classic The One That I Want, (by musician Lo-Fang) playing ominously in the background the ad really gives off the essence of a woman balancing significant aspects in her life from being a mother, personal life, career, and a wife – not to mention loved seeing everything CHANEL luxe from the pillows, SURFBOARD, clothes, jewelry & more.
