Kim Kardashian & ‘The Art of Selfies’ for Australia’s Next Top Model.

Queen of selfies, reality star & entrepreneur, Kim Kardashian West was a guest-judge on the competition series Australia’s Next Top Model. Kim is truly a social media aficionado – she’s the 2nd most popular person on Instagram with 30million followers (Beyonce was N. 1). We all know how important the ‘art of selfies’ are, especially for models, it’s an incredible way to promote yourself.

“Social media is extremely important when you want to get your brand out there to the world and just express yourself,” Kim said in the clip. That’s why Z Management’s modeling APP M3 Beauty is a fab way to showcase your model shots by posting your Comp Card.

Mrs. West gave the girls on the show a challenge: send them out to style & shoot their OWN photos for the Kardashian Kollection clothing line. She was pretty fierce in giving some serious feedback, she said about one of the ‘selfies’; “Lucy looks great but there are cigarettes on the ground which is an instant turn-off,” while telling another competitor, “You need to think more about showing off the clothing and accessories.” There is definitely a ‘social media etqutette’ girls need to be aware of.

On Karl Lagerfeld calling her the “girl of the moment”: “I started this hoping that it would have longevity. I didn’t come into this thinking it’s going to be a fun thing that I’m going to do on the side. It’s something I want to do my whole life. It’s a career, so I needed to be really gentle with it. We had to pick and choose things very specifically.”

Now she’s basically BFFs with Karl (who also shot the cover & editorial of Harper’s): “I’m really shy when I first meet someone—and to meet him was even worse. He would say something to me and I would just nod. It was like meeting a crush or something—I was mute. He probably thought I was the biggest weirdo. And then every time we’d see each other, it would just get better and better. Now we’re totally BFFs.”

On being model besties with Cara Delevingne, Joan Smalls, & Gigi Hadid: “Just through work. I think it’s super important. You have to be around these girls for work, for parties, for events, for shows, especially. It’s good to have a set of girlfriends that you can stand being around. You have to be around these people all the time!”

And, what’s ‘craycray Cara’ really like? “Amazingly crazy. We balance each other out. I chill her out and she makes me fun.”

The KUWTK star talks sister Kim’s style:  “I really admire Kim’s style. It’s insane. She really knows how to work her style with her body. I think she could be a major fashion icon. It’s so fun to be in Paris with her, but I’ll walk out and be like, ‘Oh, my God, I love my outfit,’ and then I’ll see Kim and I’ll be like, ‘My outfit sucks compared to yours!’”

On her dream date: “I don’t know, a nice dinner. I love, like, being outside at night. I know that sounds really random, but I love being on the beach or anywhere.”

She opens up about a surprising side of her, spirituality: “There’s definitely a spiritual side to me and I honestly want the best for everyone. I’m not materialistic, I love clothes and all that stuff, but I don’t need it to live. I feel like, not that I’ve had everything, but once you feel you’ve had everything at a young age, you can either go down a path of being spoiled and self-centered, or you see it isn’t everything. I’ve found ways to really enjoy life. But people may get the wrong idea. Having a reality TV show, everyone feels like they know you, but that’s only 10% of my life. There’s a whole other side of me that people don’t see.”

Kylie loves being around loved ones: “I have to feel like I’m OK with everyone I love in my life. I never want to have bad beef with anybody. I always want everyone to be happy. Also balancing work life and personal life so I never lose myself. Lastly, I don’t think I need a significant other to be happy because I always like to find that for myself, but I think that it makes me a lot happier when I’m sharing my life with somebody.”

On social media: “People are going to judge you no matter what you do. So now I feel like I haven’t been open as much as I used to be. I haven’t really been letting my fans get to know me a lot; I closed down a little. I love to connect with people, but it became just a bigger door for people to judge me. I feel like, growing up, I haven’t had a lot of room for error – I don’t have room to make mistakes. You need to make mistakes to grow and learn, but I’m just a little different because the whole world is watching me, every single thing I do. So I closed my door a little, just until I get a bit older and then I’ll probably get back into it. On Instagram I’m like a different person almost, I just show people what I want people see.”

Kim K — always known for her glam — looks stunning on the beaches of Australia wearing neutral, yet chic pieces.

This is definitely a switch from the #BreakTheInternet with Paper Magazine & her cover alongside husband Kanye West. Kim instagrammed a shot with the caption: “I truly am so honored to have worked with one of style icons, fashion director @Centenera for this cover for @VogueAustralia and shoot in one of my favorite places in the world, Australia! Thank you Gilles Bensimon for these gorgeous pics! Can’t wait to see the rest out Monday!”

The reality star // social media phenomenon spoke with VOGUE about her relationship, daughter North, & more.

On being in the public eye vs privacy:  “I like sharing my world with people. Although I wish there could be just maybe a little bit more privacy just for our daughter. But it is what it is. She is going to grow up to be a strong girl. I love my life. I feel like I’m in a really good place right now.”

Adding, “We’ll be at a party, and it might seem like the best party, and we’re whispering to each other: ‘Let’s just go home’, because we want some alone time.”

On Kanye: “He always has been such a good support throughout my life. I think we met 10 years ago and at different points we connected and got closer. We were always communicating, even if we were on different paths in our lives. We could always fill each other in on what was going on and always support each other. I think that created a good foundation for our relationship.”

On family life & North West: “We are absolute best friends; we know every last thing about each other. We know our goals are to make each other’s lives really happy, and I think we know how to do that. We have good communication, and I think that’s so important in a relationship, and we have so much fun together. We laugh together. We’re obsessed with our family. We love our daughter so much.”

North West is one of the cutest babies out there — so of course we’re wondering when the next Kimye spawn will be arriving lol. Kim tol The Daily Mail,  “It’s been more challenging to get pregnant the second time around. When you’re not planning it, it happens. It’s just how God works. And when you want it so bad, it’s not happening.”

Vogue’s editor-in-chief Edwina McCann spoke highly of Mrs. West. McCann describes her as “the defining element of fame in this era,”adding, “People think they can just abuse her and think she doesn’t have feelings. Yes, she’s famous for being famous but that’s the society we’ve created. She understands that’s the price of fame and she gets on with it.”

“Kim Kardashian is one of the most searched people on Google, with as many Instagram followers (23 million and counting) as there are Australians. She is polarising. She is regularly the victim of cyber bullying. She is a serious fashion fan. She is also awfully nice.”
